The Witch-Tower (Hexenturm): Well the story has it that this tower has nothing to do with witch huntings. But then again underneath the tower there is a list of names of the "witches" (also some male witches) that were executed. But I am not so good at history so I think this needs more digging to figure out. However if u r interested in going up the tower u can get the keys to the tower from the most beautiful tourist information center I have ever seen. The tower has about 120 stairs and the climb at the end becomes steep and a bit tight. So if u r claustrophobic or afraid of heights, I would suggest u omit this tourist stop. From up there u have a beautiful view of the old town. The key can stay with u for exchange with an ID for about 30mins. I suggest once u go in the tower lock the door behind u otherwise people just walk in and think it is open all day long and then u r responsible to get them out and return the key on time.
You have to go to the tourism office and ask for the key first. You get 45 minutes to explore the tower on your own. There are extensive steps and they get rather steep, almost like a ladder, as you get up top. I can't wait to bring my kids. They will love it!!
There is one of the oldest place to visit with your family and Landmark place in Idstein.
